Video card

Suffix of "video" parameter value in configuration file determines, which of four available packages will be loaded. Different packages use different graphics library:

  • Package S uses SVGALib 1.4.3 graphics library. Is meant for the oldest computers with CPU upwards of i486 and RAM 8Mb and old video-cards (ISA- and PCI-cards). Approximate list see here.
  • Package T usese SVGALib 1.9.24 libriary. Is meant for the oldest computers with CPU upwards of i486 and RAM 8Mb and old video-cards (ISA- and PCI-cards, first AGP-cards). Approximate list see here.
  • Package F uses Linux Kernel Framebuffer drivers. Usually drivers from this package show the best performance for all computers with video cards supported by this package. Supported both classic framebuffer drivers and new Kernel mode-setting (DRM/KMS) drivers.
  • Package X uses new X.org version. Supports majority o modern video cards.

Processor

All x86-compatible processors are supported. Including Vortex86 (Xcore86), AMD Geode etc.

RAM

In most cases 64Mb RAM is enough for terminal work and further RAM increasing doesn't make work faster.

Network card

Ethernet: supported almost all 100-mb and majority of built-in gigabit cards.

Wifi: some chip supported. List is too big, it's better to test each card.

Printer

A lot of USB and parallel (LPT) printers work with WTware:

  • All printers which drivers are included into Windows Server distributive work.
  • All printers, that work through hardware print-server (a box with two connectors, one to Ethernet and another to printer), work
  • All printers able to print text from DOS without additional drivers work.

Note that so called "Win-printers" won't work. For example, Canon LBP810 and HP 1005. These printers will never work through hardware print-server too.

Keyboard

Standart DIN, USB and PS/2 keyboards are supported. Also all bar-code scanners attached to keyboard cable are supported.

Mouse

Standard COM, USB and PS/2 mouses and wheel-mouses are supported.

Floppy drives

Only in WTware PRO: Supported standart and USB drives.

CDROM drives

Only in WTware PRO: Supported standart IDE ATAPI drives, SATA USB CD-/DVD-ROM.

USB memory storage (flash-cards, flash-card-readers)

Only in WTware PRO: Majority of models are supported. Work all devices that work with Linux. Reads and writes on FAT/FAT32. Read-only on NTFS.

Sound cards

Only in WTware PRO: Majority of models are supported.

Serial port (COM-port) redirection

Supported a lot of hardware, each case requires testing. Bar-code scanners (USB and COM)work stable.

USB-port redirection

Only in WTware 4.5.x and newer: supported a lot of hardware, each case requires testing. Used USB/IP Project, it works now only on 32-bit servers.

Smart cards

USB tokens supported:

  • eToken PRO 32K
  • eToken PRO 72K Java
  • ruToken S 32K
  • ruToken ECP
  • iBank 2 Key (ruToken Magistra, orange)
  • Gemalto GemPC Key

Cardreaders supported:

  • ACR122
  • iBank 2 Key (CASTLES EZCCID)

Scanners

USB scanners from this list supported.
